A world-ranked wrestler and Michigan Supreme Court justice are among eight women to be inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame.
The 28th annual induction ceremony was scheduled for Thursday at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing.
The inductees include Capitol Area Literacy Coalition executive director Lois Bader; Arab-American professional women's advocate Jumana Judeh; Justice Marilyn Kelly; and Hispanic community leader Edelmira "Delma" Lopez. Others are ACLU of Michigan executive director Kary Moss; lawyer Rose Mary C. Robinson; National Wrestling Hall of Fame member Tricia McNaughton Saunders; and the late Valeria Lipczynski, an advocate for Polish-Americans.
Scott Burgess of the Accident Fund Holding Inc. will receive the Philip A. Hart Award given to men who have supported women's issues.
Justice Marilyn Kelly served as chief justice of the Michigan Supreme Court from 2009-11. Before that, she served on the Michigan Court of Appeals, the State Board of Education and as a courtroom lawyer. She was first elected to the Supreme Court since her in 1996; her cur- rent term expires Jan. 1, 2013.
