Book and Breakfast

The Armenian-American Bar Association (AABA) presented its inaugural Book and Breakfast with Tom Mooradian (third from left), author of “The Repatriate: Love, Basketball, and the KGB,” on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the offices of Miller Canfield in Troy. Among those eager to hear from Mooradian were (left to right) Lisa Tehlirian, Of Counsel with Ellis Porter PLC; Diane Margosian Paulsen of Paulsen Law Office PLLC; Kathy Ossian of Miller, Canfield, Paddock, & Stone PLC; Rebecca Simkins of Quicken Loans; and Sevahn Merian of Black, Black, and Black PC. “I lived in the Soviet Union for 13 years,” Mooradian said. “I went in 1947 with 152 American Armenians and resided in the city of Yerevan, which was the capital of Soviet Armenia, and traveled extensively throughout the Soviet Union as a basketball player. I wrote this book because my name appeared on a report on the assassination of John F. Kennedy and it was tied to Lee Harvey Oswald and I decided after 35 years as working as a reporter, I decided to tell my story so that I don’t end up like Dr. Mudd did — in 1865 he was connected with the assination of President Abraham Lincoln. So far, I am fascinated by the Armenian American story and the stories that have come out from this book.”
