Companies support area families through various outreach efforts
Local business leader Linda Orlans has made it a goal to instill her companies with a culture of generosity.
Orlans Outreach – an Orlans Associates, P.C. philanthropic employee-run initiative – is just one example of the overall impact the philosophy has made. The group recently raised funds to adopt several families and foster children, providing them with clothing, toys and other gifts for their Christmas celebration. In total, the group raised $4,250 in donations that were used to serve families through Lighthouse of Oakland County, Oakland Family Services, and Beaumont Hospital.
“I believe that we get more through life by giving,” said Orlans, CEO and president, “and I am proud that our companies act on this philosophy through both their time and dollars in order to help others.”
In addition to these donations, eTitle Agency in Troy, where Orlans also serves as CEO, ran a food drive for Gleaners, a Toys for Tots campaign and a coat drive for Beyond Basics, a group that supports economically disadvantaged children and families with reading, art and other needs. The eTitle firm is known for leading the spring eClutter Drive, collecting electronic waste for the benefit of children in need of treatment for
speech and language disorders.
Orlans’ companies in other states also provided to charitable causes. Gross Polowy, an Orlans’ law firm in Amherst, N.Y., adopted a family with four children as well as donating many boxes of non-perishable food to the Buffalo City Mission. Orlans Moran, in Waltham, Mass., collected canned goods and toiletries for the Joseph Smith Community Health Center. Atlantic Law Group’s (Leesburg, Va.) Giving Committee held a raffle and bake sale to purchase meals for Good Shepherd Alliance as well as providing gifts to 45 children through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
Orlans is quick to point out that Christmas is not the only time of year that the companies focus on giving. Orlans Outreach runs various short-term fund-raising efforts — such as pizza lunches, bake sales, and Mother’s Day flower sales — throughout the year with Orlans matching all funds dollar for dollar. Additionally, all of the Orlans’ companies hold various food, clothing, recycling drives, and other charitable efforts on an ongoing basis.
Orlans is the founder of Orlans Associates, a law firm specializing in real property law, and eTitle Agency, which provides real property research, title, and settlement services. She also has founded several other law firms and companies that serve various real estate industry needs.
