The Thomas M. Cooley Law School, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Eastern District of Michigan, and Access to Bankruptcy Court, a nonprofit organization that provides free legal representation to low income consumer debtors filing for bankruptcy, conducted “Getting Through It: Bankruptcy Basics” on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit. Among those taking part in the initial monthly educational seminar were (l-r) Mel Matias, Cooley Law student and presenter; Lauren Rousseau, Cooley Law professor; George Blackmore, Cooley Law student and president of Cooley’s Student Bankruptcy Organization (graduated Jan. 20); Alesia Dobbins of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Eastern District of Michigan; and Jerry Thomas, Cooley Law student and presenter.
