The Madison’s Mt. Clemens Lawyers Softball League completed its fourth season with the team sponsored by Orleans Billiards Café winning the championship tournament on July 17.

The championship trophy was presented by Macomb Bar Association President Julie Gatti to manager Charles Trickey III.

The regular season saw the Macomb prosecutors team, sponsored by Dooley’s Pub, take first place with a 6-0 season for the third year in a row.

The prosecutors team, lead by Macomb County Prosecutor Eric  J. Smith, played the Orleans team in the championship game, which Orleans won 8-6.

The league is comprised of six teams made up of lawyers, law students or law school graduates.

Each team is sponsored by a bar or restaurant located in Mt. Clemens.

Besides Orleans and Dooley’s, other sponsors were Bath City Bistro, The Rec Bowl, Gus’ Coney Island and the league sponsor, Madison’s Pub.

The season runs from the middle of May to the end of June, with a two-week playoff tournament in July.

All games are played in Mt. Clemens at Memorial Field on Lafayette Street, just off of Groesbeck.

Anyone interested in joining a team or forming a team should contact either of the co-commissioners, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark S. Switalski or Charles Trickey.
