The Pro Bono Council recently hosted a “Meet & Greet” for volunteer lawyers at the T. Levin U.S. District Courthouse in Detroit. The council is a new venture combining efforts of U.S. District Court judges, the Federal Bar Association (FBA) Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, nearly two dozen law firms, eight local bar associations, and other key players in the legal community. Its purpose is to establish a “cutting-edge” type of representation to litigants whose cases otherwise may not have reached a proper legal conclusion. Among those gathering to discuss the council’s future efforts were (seated, left to right) Austin Hirschhorn, Anthony Patti, Karen Kienbaum, and Melissa Pearce; along with (standing, left to right) Louise Paris, U.S. District Court Judge Paul D. Borman, Cooley Law School-Auburn Hills campus Dean John Nussbaumer, U.S. District Court Judge Victoria A. Roberts, Marc Deldin, U.S. District Court Judge Denise Page Hood, John Clark, Barbara Bosler, Sidney Kraizman, U.S. District Court Administrator David Weaver, Racine Miller, and U.S. District Court Judge Arthur J. Tarnow.
