 Varnum attorney Appointed to board of ArtServe Michigan 

 Varnum Attorney Matthew Bower has been appointed to the board of ArtServe Michigan. 

 Bower is a business and corporate attorney with a focus on  general business, contracts, transactions, and  employment and private equity. He has represented a wide variety of clients in the creative industries, including publishers, authors, theatrical producers, recording artists, photographers, artists and celebrities.
 
In addition to his work as a member of ArtServe Michigan’s Lawyers for the Creative Economy Advisory Committee, Bower is a member of the board of directors for the Michigan Youth Art Association.

Bower earned his J.D. at Yeshiva University in New York and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan.

ArtServe Michigan is a statewide nonprofit organization which advocates for the power of the creative economy in Michigan, and provides leadership and professional development for artists, creative practitioners, and arts and cultural organizations. Their mission is to cultivate the creative potential of Michigan's arts and cultural sector to enhance the health and well-being of Michigan, its people and communities.

In the May 8, 2014, “Asked and Answered” feature on grandparents’ rights in light of Porter v. Hill, attorney Jessica Woll was responding to the questions based on the Michigan Supreme Court’s April 23, 2014, ruling, which overturned the earlier Court of Appeals decision. The introduction to the question and answer only mentioned the Court of Appeals ruling.
 

Dresevic hosts ABA?webinar on basics of anti-kickback law 

Adrienne Dresevic, founding shareholder of The Health Law Partners, recently hosted an American Bar Association’s webinar on the federal Anti-kickback Statute.  
 
Sponsored by the American Bar Association, health care attorneys throughout the United States participated in the informative webinar, which provided an in-depth overview of this complex criminal statute. Along with an expert panel, Dresevic outlined the process to analyze arrangements under AKS, discussed exceptions and safe harbors, highlighted the impact of the Affordable Care Act and analyzed the differences between AKS and other fraud and abuse laws.

Dresevic, a founding shareholder of The Health Law Partners, is an avid writer and speaker. She has published more than 60 articles on health care law and presents at national conferences throughout the year.
