James M. Reid, IV, a shareholder at Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, P.C., a Southfield-based multi-specialty law firm, has received the Oakland County Bar Association’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award. The award recognizes OCBA members who provide exceptional voluntary services to benefit the organization.
“We are proud of James’ recognition by the OCBA for his efforts in supporting the organization, as well as his on-going commitment to addressing employment issues on behalf of our clients,” said the firm’s president and CEO, Steve D. Sallen. “As a member of Maddin Hauser’s Corporate/Employment Practice Group, James helps clients make sound business decisions regarding the management of workforce-related issues. He helps to ensure that his clients have the essential tools required to enhance workplace performance and employer/employee relationships, while minimizing risks on each side of the employment relationship.”
Reid, a Saline, Michigan native, works with employers, human resource professionals, and business owners on an extensive range of employment issues including; employment policies and contracts, handbooks, employment agreements, non-competes, non-disclosure agreements, and release and separation agreements. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science-Prelaw, cum laude, from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School. While at Wayne State, Reid was an associate editor of the Wayne Law Review. He is a member of the National and Detroit Chapters of the Society of Human Resources Management, Oakland County Bar Association and
State Bar of Michigan, Labor and Employment Law Section, and is admitted to practice before the federal and state courts of Michigan.
Reid has authored several articles regarding strategies to update employee handbooks and challenge unemployment claims.
