Dykema lawyer named IADC’s vice chair of Diversity Initiatives
Dykema attorney Bonnie Mayfield, a Bloomfield Hills-based member in the firm’s Litigation practice, has been named vice chair of Diversity Initiatives for the Diversity Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).
Mayfield, who is a well-known trial and appellate lawyer, has won an impressive series of victories for various clients. She represents clients in labor and employment, product liability, and commercial matters. Mayfield also is a member of Dykema’s newly launched National Trial Team, a group of experienced trial lawyers who have taken over 650 cases, in all areas of legal practice, to verdict. She also organized a client/trial team that received recognition for its diversity and inclusiveness.
Mayfield received her B.A. from Dillard University and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
Legal Aid for Children and Families receives $15,000 OCBF grant
“The assistance you provide families during a very stressful time in their life is irreplaceable,” OCBF President Eric J. Pelton said in a letter to Karen Glorio Luther, the program's director. “The training you provide Beaumont staff and the OUWB [Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine] extern on identifying medical-legal issues is a benefit that can hopefully be duplicated in other area hospitals.
“Without your service the county would be at a huge loss.”
Beaumont Hospitals formed LACF in 2009 in collaboration with Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. to improve the health and welfare of low-income children and their families by addressing the underlying causes of poor health among children.
LAD provides legal services to eligible children and family members free of charge.
