DETROIT (AP) — The Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest is announcing its 10 semifinalists from its latest group of applicants.
Public voting on the contest that’s presented by Opportunity Detroit began last Friday. One winner will get a $50,000 grant from Comerica Bank to help jumpstart the business. In addition, they’ll receive legal, marketing, accounting and other support.
A boutique, a cookie and ice cream business, restaurants, a wine store, a cycle studio and an outdoor store are among the ideas.
Details about the semifinalists are being posted online along with contest details. Two rounds of public voting are planned.
The winner will be announced Aug. 28 after the top four present business pitches to a panel of judges at The M@dison Building in Detroit.
