State judiciary to celebrate Constitution Day

Judges across Michigan will celebrate Constitution Day today in recognition of the date the historic document was signed in 1787. In addition, a new three-minute video and discussion guide about "We the People" is posted on the Michigan Supreme Court Website. A few activities include: - Eastern Upper Peninsula students will hear from Justice McCormack, area judges and other civic leaders about the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights and participate in small group discussions at the Chippewa County Courthouse from 9 11:15 a.m. and again from Noon - 2:15 p.m., September 17. McCormack will present "The Importance of Youth Getting Involved in Civics" during an evening event at Lake Superior State University Arts Center at 7 p.m., September 17. Free and open to the public. Raisinville Rd. at 7 p.m., September 17. Following Judge Murray's comments, students from multiple campus groups will perform vignettes highlighting current constitutional issues.
