LANSING (AP) — Two conservative former Michigan lawmakers who had an extramarital affair and attempted to conceal it have been sued by former aides.
The Detroit News and MLive.com report former state Reps. Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat were sued last Friday by Keith Allard and Ben Graham in Ingham County Circuit Court.
Allard and Graham seek whistleblower protection and say they were fired in retaliation for reporting information to House officials.
The state House expelled Gamrat on Sept. 11 and Courser resigned rather than be expelled. Both are seeking re-election.
Courser didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment. The Associated Press left a phone message for Gamrat’s attorney.
A House Business Office report alleged misconduct and misuse of public resources by Courser and Gamrat. The state police and attorney general are investigating.
