ROCHESTER HILLS (AP) — A $20,000 donation to Oakland University will help the Detroit-area school expand its textbook loan program for student veterans and their dependents.
Launched earlier this year, the program encourages students, faculty and staff to donate gently used books in exchange for a T-shirt that reads “Support OUr Veterans.’
The $20,000 gift will fund the purchase of additional textbooks and also support incentives for the program, according to school officials.
The school says it has more than 300 veterans as students on campus.
OU’s campus spans more than 1,400 acres in the cities of Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills.
