The rule of law had its day during a special program held earlier this month at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in downtown Detroit. The Wayne County Circuit Court and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association co-hosted the Law Day program, which saw more than 300 Detroit public high school students participate in activities, according to Robert Colombo Jr. (second from right), chief judge of the Circuit Court. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy (center) was the keynote speaker at the event, which offered students the opportunity to visit the courthouse, learn about legal careers, participate in mock oral arguments and then enjoy lunch with 13 Circuit Court judges. Law Day is a national celebration held each May to mark the role of law in our society and to cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal profession. Program participants and organizers pictured with Colombo and Worthy are (left to right) Sarah Gale-Barbantini, Antoinette Porter and Tiffany Ellis.
