A ‘Purple Rain’ event planned by RESTORE


The RESTORE Foundation will present a Purple Rain Fund-raiser on Wednesday, June 22 from 5:30-8 p.m. at The Iroquois Club, 43248 Woodward, in Bloomfield Hills.

The event, featuring a musical theme in honor of the late recording artist Prince, whose soundtrack “Purple Rain” is widely regarded as one of the great albums of the 1980s, will be highlighted by a musical show starting at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets for the event cost $60 and can be purchased online at www.restorefoundation.org or at the door. Please RSVP to Edward Sosnick, president of RESTORE and a retired Oakland County Circuit Court judge, at Edward@sosnickmediation.com by June 19.

The RESTORE Foundation, in partnership with the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities, provides private funding support for the drug treatment courts in Oakland County.

 

Retired Judge Jeffrey L. Sauter dies at 63
 

Hon. Jeffrey L. Sauter, who retired  in late April,  died May 25 at the age of 63. A memorial service was held June 3.

A  Grayling native and a graduate of Central Michigan University and Cooley Law School, Sauter began his career in private practice in Charlotte and later became an assistant Eaton County prosecutor rising to the position of chief assistant prosecutor in 1985.

In 1987, he joined the Hubbard Law Firm in Lansing, focusing on civil litigation and employment law.

Appointed Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney in 1991,  his accomplishments included creating the Economic Crimes Unit; forming the first paperless prosecuting attorney’s office in Michigan; and establishing the state’s first sobriety court.

 Named to the Eaton County Circuit Court bench in May 2013 he was part of a team that established the Eaton County Veterans Treatment Court.

Sauter served on the board of directors of the Association of Drug Court Professionals; was a member of Drug Court Professionals; served on the Statewide Drug Treatment Court Advisory Committee; and served as president of the Prosecutors Attorneys Association of Michigan, as well as in other positions within the association. He received PAAM’s Distinguished Faculty Award in 2001, and PAAM’s Frank J. Kelley Justice Award in 2013.
