Local communities and organizations interested in improving their recycling programs can now apply for funding from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).
Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 17.
The grants are part of Gov. Rick Snyder’s Initiative to double the state’s recycling rate. Ensuring sufficient recycling infrastructure and education is a proven method for increasing recycling.
Up to $500,000 is available to Michigan cities, villages, townships, charter townships, counties, tribal governments, municipal solid waste authorities, resource recovery authorities, non-profit organizations, public school districts, local health departments, and regional planning agencies.
Applicants may partner with for-profit organizations for funding or program support as needed.
