DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: LAWM provides free legal services to low income persons and Seniors in a wide variety of poverty law areas including consumer, housing, bankruptcy, public benefits and family law.
LAWM covers 17 counties in western Michigan from five offices with a full time staff of 51. The Muskegon office currently has a staff of four attorneys and handles cases in Muskegon, Lake, Mason, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola counties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Michigan or eligible to be admitted by waiver. Applicants must possess both written and oral advocacy skills as well as a demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of persons in poverty. The applicant must be willing to live in the Muskegon/Lakeshore community. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is valued by LAWM.
