Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano will be among those on hand as Macomb County Circuit Court celebrates Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 17.
Viviano, who was a member of the circuit court bench before he was appointed to the state’s top court, will join Macomb County Circuit Court Chief Judge James Biernat and Judge Matthew Switalski in taking part in the event at the courthouse in downtown Mt. Clemens.
November is National Adoption Awareness Month and courts across the state are planning events to celebrate with families who are adopting children and to reach out to families who may be considering adoption.
The event provides an opportunity to educate the community about the many children in the foster care system who are waiting to find an adoptive homes.
“It is a privilege for the court to play such an important role in the lives of children and families,” Biernat said. “One of the most rewarding things we do as circuit court judges is to be part of the adoption process. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to give a child a forever home. I hope that the community will join us at this joyous event.”
