Keith D. Weiss, Ph.D., an intellectual property attorney in Brinks Gilson & Lione's Ann Arbor office, moderated at Integr8 a new cross-discipline global conference focused on Industry 4.0 technologies, Nov. 9 in Detroit. The conference, the first of its kind to tackle the integration of the eight technologies currently disrupting the manufacturing industry, was hosted by Automation Alley.
Integr8 intended to advance attendees' knowledge and understanding of Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, and hoped to help companies enhance their global competitiveness. It attracted hundreds of manufacturing and technology professionals from across the region and the world to discuss the eight technologies associated with Industry 4.0: cybersecurity, big data and artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, advanced materials, robotics, the Industrial Internet of Things, cloud computing and modeling, simulation and visualization. Weiss will moderate a panel on obstacles to additive manufacturing.
At Brinks, Weiss focuses his practice on patent prosecution and intellectual property agreements with an emphasis on IP portfolio planning, development and intellectual asset management. Listed as an inventor on more than 30 U.S. patents and four pending patent U.S. patent applications, Weiss understands the product development cycle, having been through the process many times. Prior to practicing law, he worked for 20 years in R & D management, product development and technology licensing. He has substantial experience with advanced materials, applications and equipment used in multiple global industries including automotive, aerospace, coatings, plastics and microelectronic fabrication.
