Retired Clinton County Judge Frederick M. Lewis, age 94, passed away February 28, 2018 at the Poppen Residence.
Lewis was a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and became the Prosecuting Attorney in St. Johns, then served as a part of the Clinton County Judiciary. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Muskegon. Lewis was also was the Pipe Major of the Glen Erin Pipe Band, belonged to the Muskegon Regional Police Pipes & Drums, the Michigan State Bar Association and University of Michigan Law Review. He enjoyed sailing and working on crossword puzzles.
Lewis married the former Leigh Cleeve on September 4, 1987, and she survives him along with his two daughters, Maureen (Dale) Scott of Harbor Springs, Linda (Bob) Williams of Mt. Clemens; Leigh’s children, Terri (Rick) Collins of Highpoint, NC, Russ (Natalie) Beland of St. Joseph, MI, and Becky (Matt) McKinnon of Jenison, MI; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Cullity; and son, Jeremy Lewis.
MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday April 14, 2018 at First Congregational Church (1201 Jefferson St.) with Rev. Tim VanderHaar officiating.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to First Congregational Church and Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence will be appreciated.
