There is still time to register teens for new hands-on career exploration program

Parents seeking engaging summer activities for teens still have time to register their seventh or eighth grade student for “Career Camp” at the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC). The new four day, hands-on, career exploration program takes place June 18-21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and offers 11 different career options for teens.

Career Camp exposes students to four different career areas–a different one each day–over the course of the four-day experience. Students may register for four of the following options: A Dose of Medicine (healthcare), Animal Planet (veterinary science), Auto Collision Repair (automotive), Building for Beginners (construction), Computer-Aided Design (engineering), CNC Machining Boot Camp (engineering/manufacturing), Got Ink? (art and design), Cybersecurity with Raspberry Pi (computer science), Engines 101 (automotive), Hospitality & Tourism (culinary arts), and Welding Technology.

There will be a lunch break from 11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Tuition for the week is $50. Catered lunch is available for an additional $25 for the week or students may bring a sack lunch.

For class descriptions and to enroll, visit summercareercamp.com.

The deadline for enrollment is June 15, 2018. Needs-based scholarships are available to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
