Match Making

Lakeshore Legal Aid’s Private Attorney Involvement unit conducted a mentor-mentee match and training session on Oct. 12 at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center Jury Assembly Room in Detroit. Through the pro bono program, a “growing number of outstanding lawyers give their time and expertise to help those who otherwise could not afford legal services,” according to Ashley Lowe, CEO of Lakeshore Legal Aid. Lakeshore, said Lowe, offers “varied and flexible pro bono opportunities, training and mentoring when needed, pre-screened clients, office space and malpractice insurance” for cases handled. Among those who were on hand for the program were (l-r) Kathleen McCarthy, presiding judge of the Family Domestic division of the 3rd Circuit Court of Wayne County; Lynda Krupp, attorney director for Private Attorney Involvement at Lakeshore; Ashley Lowe; and Robert Colombo Jr., chief judge of the 3rd Circuit Court.
