Detroit School of Arts, one of four magnet schools in Detroit, recently organized an Intellectual Property (IP) Master Class Summit for students. The nationally renowned arts and academic high school offers a college preparatory academic and arts curriculum, with pre-professional study in vocal music, instrumental music, music technology, dance, theater, speech, radio and television production, visual arts and visual communications. The IP Master Class was discussed how to protect the creative rights of artists, musicians, authors and athletes.
The school is now scheduling an Intellectual Property fall 2019 series.
The IP Master Class event was co-chaired by Beverly Morrison-Green, the school’s Radio/Television Instructor, and Detroit Intellectual Property attorney Gregory J. Reed, who recently hosted a Grammy Music Education Coalition team at the school in pursuit of a $5 million grant.
The two-day summit was hosted by speech instructor William Mclin and attended by nearly 100 students, who were excited and engaged by an Intellectual Property curriculum designed to help their careers and entrepreneurial plans.
The Detroit School of Arts is under the leadership of principal Mayowa Reynolds and is one of the leading Arts magnet schools for preparing students in all areas of creative arts.
