Speed Mentoring

WMU-Cooley's Career and Professional Development Department hosted the National Association of Women Judges 2020 Mentor Jet program at the law school's Grand Rapids campus on Wednesday, March 11.
The event was moderated by Cori Barkman of the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Additionally, numerous legal professionals spoke about their personal experiences as attorneys in a speed mentoring format. Those legal professionals included: Jennifer Gallardo, Michigan Immigrant Rights Center; Mike Hanrahan, Chase Bylenga Hulst PLLC; David Hill, Barnes and Thornburg LLP; Kris Johnson, Baar & Lichterman PLLC; Jessica Kuipers, Kuipers Lynn & Associates PLC; Sueann T. Mitchell, nonpartisan legal counsel, Michigan Senate; Hon. Nicholas Ohanesian, administrative law judge, Social Security Administration; Larry Phelan, formerly of Haehnel & Phelan; Ivan Shaw, Shaw Law Group PLC; Hon. Sara Smolenski, 63rd District Court; Michael Toburen, Toburen Law PLC; Jasna Tosic, Federal Public Defender for Western Michigan; Justin R. Wheeler, Hilger Hammond PC; Alana Wiaduck, McCroskey Law.
