David P. Shafer, managing partner of Nolan & Shafer, PLC, a Muskegon/Lakeshore-based law firm specializing in representing those who have been seriously injured and/or the families who have lost loved ones due to the carelessness of others, has been accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
ABOTA dedicates itself to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. Members in this prestigious invitation-only group must have tried a minimum of 10 civil jury trials to conclusion. More than 7,600 lawyers and judges are involved in ABOTA chapters in all 50 states.
"ABOTA is one of the nation's most effective organizations in championing the ethics, professionalism and principles of the legal profession, and I'm honored to be part of this select group," Shafer said.
Shafer represents people and families of people who have been seriously injured or killed due to the negligence of others in motor vehicle, trucking, and motorcycle accidents. He also represents people who have been carelessly injured or killed due to a wide variety of preventable accidents. The majority of his practice is in state and federal courts throughout Michigan.
Shafer’s litigation expertise includes the largest motor vehicle injury verdict in Muskegon County history. He also maintains the distinction of winning the largest auto accident injury settlement on the Lakeshore.
In addition, Shafer has extensive experience in trying and settling numerous injury and death cases for many people along the Lakeshore.
A graduate of Wayne State University Law School with an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Shafer was born and raised in Muskegon, where he continues to reside and practice.
Shafer is a sustaining member of the Michigan Association for Justice, and is also a member of the American Association for Justice. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Negligence Law Section Council. He is also the Bench-Bar Committee Chair for the Muskegon County Bar Association.
