The Wayne County Family Bar Association ushered in the holiday season December 15 with its annual yuletide party at the Detroit Athletic Club. The festive occasion, which drew members of the bench and bar, was highlighted by a presentation honoring Wayne County Circuit Judge Kathleen McCarthy for her “20 years of dedicated service to the Family Division bench,” according to Alicia Bianchi, treasurer of the WCFBA and an attorney with Breitmeyer Cushman. McCarthy, pictured center, served on the Family Division bench from 2001 and was named the presiding judge in 2013. A University of Michigan alumna, McCarthy earned her law degree from Detroit College of Law, and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Pictured with the judge are (left to right): Alicia Bianchi; Wayne County Circuit Judge Melissa Cox, president of the WCFBA; Secretary Angie Cummins; and Friend of the Court Referee Lauren Wright Middleton, vice president of the WCFBA.
