Speakers to discuss 'Guidance for Post-pandemic Remote Hearings'

The National Center for State Courts will present the webinar on “What Are We Learning About Remote Hearings, part two — Guidance for Post-pandemic Remote Hearings” on Thursday, May 12, from 4 to 5 p.m. via Zoom.

Last month, five NCSC experts distilled recent NCSC research on remote hearings.

In the next webinar in this series, leading experts across the states will share insights into the development of policy, rules and operations around remote hearings.

Attendees will hear from court leaders in Arizona, Maryland and Minnesota.

The panelists will discuss how they are determining which hearings should be remote; ways to support virtual and hybrid proceedings from a technical perspective; how rules are being revised to accommodate; and many topics critical to the successful implementation of remote hearings.

The panelists include:

• Marcus Reinkensmeyer, deputy director, Administrative Office of the Courts, Arizona
• Jeff Shorba, state court administrator, Minnesota
• Jason Thomas, chief technical officer, Administrative Office of the Courts, Maryland
• Moderator: David Slayton, vice president, NCSC Court Consulting Services
