'Selecting and Preparing the Expert Witness' explored in July 27 webcast

American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI-CLE) will present the webcast “Selecting and Preparing the Expert Witness” on Wednesday, July 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

This webinar presentation will discuss the strategy and mechanics behind deciding whether an expert witness is needed, retaining an expert, and working with the expert constructively so that the expert adds value to your case and aids your litigation strategy. Topics to be covered include:

• Deciding whether you need an expert witness and on what topics – the most important factors to consider.

• Finding an expert, scoping their opinion, and complying with applicable rules on expert discovery.

• Understanding how to work with your experts in crafting helpful opinions and reports.

• Preparing experts for rebuttal reports and for depositions.

• Fending off pre-trial motions focused on expert discovery, including Daubert motions.

• Preparing experts for an effective direct examination and cross-examination at trial.
