Attendees will learn how to verify information in order to obtain evidence useful in court, as well as where to look for deeper background answers.

A segment of the training will be devoted to looking into police misconducts through federal, state and local court searches and other public records.

Law school plans annual Red Mass

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will celebrate the 111th Annual Red Mass on Tuesday, Sept. 12, beginning at noon at Ss. Peter & Paul Jesuit Church in Detroit.

Red Mass is an occasion for judges, attorneys, civic leaders and law students to come together and pray for blessings and strength in the coming year’s work.

A luncheon reception in the atrium at Detroit Mercy Law follows the service.

This year’s Red Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron, Archdiocese of Detroit.

The event dates back to 1877, when Detroit College, as the university was then known, began its first year with a Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church.

The School of Law continued the tradition when it opened in 1912.
