Virtual workshop offers strategies to live happier, healthier lives


The State Bar of Michigan’s Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program will present a virtual wellness seminar titled “10 Strategies to Help You Live a Happier, Healthier, More Resilient Life” on Friday, October 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom.

Led by author, attorney, and business coach Nora Riva Bergman, the interactive workshop will include research-based strategies specifically designed to help attorneys increase their personal and professional happiness. Attendees also will receive a free copy of her book, “50 Lessons for Happy Lawyers: Boost Wellness. Build Resilience. Yes, you can!” after the workshop.

A licensed attorney for more than 30 years, Bergman has worked with lawyers, law firms, and bar associations throughout the country. She is also the author of “50 Lessons for Lawyers: Earn More. Stress Less. Be Awesome.” and “50 Lessons for Women Lawyers – From Women Lawyers.”

School to celebrate Schenk Endowed Chair in Taxation
 

Wayne State University Law School Dean Richard Bierschbach, John Grant, John Collins, and Joe Angileri will celebrate Alan Schenk and the successful creation of the Alan S. Schenk Endowed Chair in Taxation at the Wayne Law.

The Schenk Chair Celebration will take place Tuesday, October 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Wayne Law’s Spencer Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer in Detroit.

Court of Appeals judges in latest ‘Luncheon Limine’
 

In its continuing efforts to foster collegiality between the Oakland County bench and bar, the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) will continue its “Luncheon Limine” brown bag lunch series between judges and attorneys online via Zoom.  “Luncheon Limine: Court of Appeals” will take place Thursday, November 9, from noon to 1 p.m.

The Q&A series between judges and attorneys continues this November with a chance to meet and hear from Michigan Court of Appeals Judges Colleen A. O’Brien and Sima G. Patel.
