Dykema attorneys explore corporate compliance challenges Nov. 16


As part of its Litigation Institute webinar series, Dykema will present “Navigating Four Challenges for Corporate Compliance” online Thursday, November 16, beginning at 1 p.m.

Dykema’s Government Investigations and Corporate Compliance team will discuss the new DOJ policies on (1) reporting misconduct during the M&A process and (2) document claw back, (3) the evolving case law eroding the attorney-client privilege, and (4) the pending Supreme Court cases on False Claims Act liability.

License renewal deadline for Michigan attorneys approaching
 

The deadline for the 2023-2024 Michigan law license renewal process is fast approaching. Payment must be received or postmarked by the post office by Thursday, November 30, to avoid a $50 late fee.

Attorneys can renew their law license by logging in at michbar.org/MemberArea?and clicking “Renew Your License Now” at the bottom. For additional information about license renewal, see the FAQ at www.michbar.org/licenserenewalfaq.

As a reminder, this year’s license renewal includes new requirements for private practice attorneys to ensure compliance with Rule 21: Mandatory Interim Administrator Planning, which requires private practice attorneys to make an interim administrator plan and name a person with knowledge of their practice. Private practice attorneys should review these requirements at michbar.org/Rule21 prior to beginning their license renewal.

Federal Bar to host Rakow/Rom lunch
 

The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will host the Edward H. Rakow Luncheon with the Barbara J. Rom Award and Historical Society Presentation beginning at noon on Wednesday, November 15, at the Atheneum Hotel, 1000 Brush Street in Detroit.
