MLB's Bowman won't run for Michigan gov
LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Major League Baseball official Robert Bowman has decided against getting into Michigan's Democratic race for governor.
The former state treasurer formed a committee last week to explore a run, but said Monday in a release that he has decided not to begin a campaign.
He says he would enjoy the challenge but is "just not able to commit to run at this time."
The 54-year-old Bowman works in New York City but has a summer home in the northern Michigan community of Harbor Springs. He's also president of the Michigan Education Trust.
The only two declared Democratic candidates are state Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. House Speaker Andy Dillon has indicated he plans to get in soon. Former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee also may run.

Vice President Joe Biden to be in Saginaw today
SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to be in Saginaw today to discuss how Recovery Act investments have impacted Michigan.
The midday event also is to feature U.S. Sen. Carl Levin and Small Business Administration chief Karen Mills. It will take place at Delta College.
The Recovery Act is a $787 billion rescue effort that President Barack Obama pushed through Congress last year. It is designed to create or save hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country.

Regional airport radar merger draws fuss
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- The National Air Traffic Controllers Association is questioning a decision by the Federal Aviation Administration to consolidate radar operations at four regional airports at Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport.
Spokeswoman Alex Caldwell tells the Grand Rapids Press that representatives of the air controllers group met over the weekend with pilots at Gerald Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. She says they want to pressure federal lawmakers to give them a say in discussions on the consolidation expected to occur about a year from now.
The move would affect FAA operations in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Muskegon.
The FAA says consolidations cut costs and improve efficiency with advanced technology.
