State - Kathleen Ryan announces run for probate court judge

Kathleen Ryan officially entered the race for the non-incumbent Oakland County Probate Court seat by filing her petitions with the Oakland County Elections Division on Monday, April 26. Ryan collected more than 7,000 signatures in the early stages of her campaign, more than any other challenger. Ryan and her army of volunteers blanketed Oakland County during the petition gathering phase of the campaign. Ryan also held a standing room only fundraiser in Southfield on April 22nd. "I truly appreciate all the hard work my volunteers have already put into our campaign," Ryan says. "It is a long road ahead, but I'll continue to do my best to reward the faith they have shown in me by working hard to earn the support of Oakland County voters." Ryan has secured a number of key endorsements, including those of Oakland County 52-1 District Court Judges Dennis Powers and Brian MacKenzie and retired Wayne County Probate Judge James E. Lacey. " Kate Ryan is one of Oakland County's hardest working probate attorneys, with a passion for helping and protecting families," Powers states. "She is superbly qualified to be our next probate judge. Most importantly, she is a person of integrity and honor who will uphold the highest standards of our court. It's a good sign for the people of Oakland County that Kate is the front-runner for this important position." "Having served as a probate judge in Wayne County for over 28 years, I know how important and sensitive the duties of a probate judge are," Lacey agrees. "Ms. Ryan is well prepared and would make an outstanding Probate Court judge. " Ryan graduated from both the University of Notre Dame and University of Detroit, and has been a probate attorney for 14 years. Ryan has handled every kind of case that comes before a probate court judge. She is married, and resides with her family in Bloomfield Township. Her office is located in Walled Lake.
