Wayne Law announces new faculty members

Wayne State University Law School announced this week that three professors will join its faculty at the start of the 2010-11 academic year. They are Assistant Professor Brandon Hofmeister, Assistant Professor Justin Long and Assistant Professor Eric Zacks. Assistant Professor Brandon Hofmeister will teach Energy Law, Civil Procedure and The Regulatory State. He most recently served as special counsel for energy and climate policy in the office of Governor Jennifer Granholm. In that capacity, he was the governor's primary adviser on energy and climate issues, and a member of her nine-person executive team. During that same period, he was a Chevening fellow (University of Edinburgh), working alongside energy policy decision-makers from countries around the world. Earlier, he was deputy legal counsel to Governor Granholm, and a law clerk to U.S. District Judge John Corbett O'Meara. He earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an A.B. from Harvard College. Assistant Professor Justin Long will teach Civil Procedure and State Constitutionalism. He most recently served as visiting assistant professor of law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. Before that, he was an assistant solicitor general in the New York Office of the Attorney General, doing appellate litigation. He also has served as a law clerk for U.S. Circuit Judge Myron Bright and now-retired Associate Judge Albert Rosenblatt of the New York Court of Appeals. He earned a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an A.B. from Harvard College. Assistant Professor Eric Zacks will teach Contracts, Corporate Finance and Corporations. He most recently served as a partner at Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn LLP in its corporate and securities department, with a practice focusing on complex acquisitions and divestitures, debt and equity financings, and other aspects of corporate transactional work. He earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
