Courts - Connecticut State high court to hear Foley case

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Tom Foley, the endorsed Republican candidate for governor, will make his case to the Connecticut Supreme Court about why he believes a state commission should not have approved more than $2.1 million in public campaign funds to a rival.
The state's high court will hear oral arguments on Tuesday.
Foley, a Greenwich businessman, claims Lt. Gov. Mike Fedele (feh-DEHL'-ee) and his running mate Mark Boughton did not legally qualify for the funding.
Foley is also expected to argue that Fedele should not receive an additional $312,500 in matching funds, based on Foley's spending and/or fundraising. A federal appeals court ruled last week that such supplemental grants are unconstitutional.
Foley, Fedele and Hartford-area business advocate Oz Griebel (GREEB'-il) face an Aug. 10 primary.
