FBA kicks off State
of the Court Luncheon

The Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association will kick off its 2010 State of the Court Luncheon Program Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Venetian Ballroom of the Westin Book Cadillac at Washington Boulevard and Michigan Ave. The reception will begin at noon with the luncheon following at 12:30 p.m. The featured speaker will be Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen with the annual "State of the Court" address. In addition, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will honor the attorneys who have accepted pro bono assignments from the court in the past year. Tickets are $25 for chapter members and $30 for non-members. Law firm sponsorship opportunities are still available for the opening luncheon and the three luncheons in the program which will be held in the coming months. Wayne State University Law School alumni, students and friends are invited to assist a local nonprofit in its efforts to enhance the local community as the Wayne Law Student Board of Governors (SBG) hosts the 25th annual Ambulance Chase Charity Run/Walk at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29. All proceeds, including profit from a $15 entrance fee for students (who show a valid WSU ID) and $20 entrance fee for non-students, will once again benefit Cass Community Social Services (CCSS). The Ambulance Chase will begin in front of the Law School, located at 471 West Palmer Street in Detroit. A barbeque for participants and spectators will take place at the conclusion of the race. The registration fee for the symposium is $100 and includes all sessions, a continental breakfast and lunch. Students, NLRB staff and government employees may register for a reduced cost of $25.
