Signature Success: Foundation raises record amount at Signature Event

Legal News
A difficult climate for fund-raising proved to be no obstacle for the Oakland County Bar Foundation this year.
The OCBF, which supports law-related programs and legal aid work in Oakland County, attracted nearly 400 supporters to Oakland Hills Country Club on April 15 for the annual Signature Event, raising more than $230,000.
"Each year, the Foundation sets out to improve upon its results from the previous year, and I am pleased to say we have done just that," said Tom Tallerico, president of the OCBF. "Considering the toll our economy has taken on so many individuals over the past few years, I am extremely humbled and honored to be part of such a generous group. I'm very proud to say that the money raised during this event will help to provide legal education and legal aid to Oakland County residents who need assistance."
According to Tallerico, an attorney with Bodman, $175,500 was raised from sponsorship activity and an additional $57,595 was generated from ticket sales and donations, for a record $233,095.
In the past, proceeds have benefitted such organizations as the Beaumont Hospital Legal Aid for Children, University of Detroit Mercy Law Office, the Family Law Assistance Project, the Youth Law Conference, the RESTORE Foundation, Legal Aid Mini Clinics, and the Michigan Center for Civic Education.
Founded in 1999, the OCBF also supports the Adams-Pratt Collection at the Oakland County Courthouse Library.
